Is there anything good about Islam?

Islam seems to be the only religion in conflict with the modern world. Instead of happiness, freedom and responsibility it seems to preach subservience -- subservience to God, to the Koran, to the teachings of Mohammed as interpreted by church elders and to church elders. It also seems to preach subservience of women to men, it teaches men to control women and all other things, and it teaches women and children to allow themselves to be controlled. It fails to challenge hatred, concepts such as infidels, jihad, martyrdom and suicide killings. Mother are encouraged to rejoice about martyr sons and martyr sons are promised 72 virgins in heaven. Surely Islam is a sick religion? Does Islam have a good side, and if so why do we never see it?
