Is big brother more oppressive now than 20 years ago?

I am an independent, I think Bush brought a lot of oppressiveness to the table and the way 0bama started seam to only increase wars, spending, intrusiveness, body scans, ...TAXES, gun regulation....so you probably smelled me I am a libertarian...but am I being wrong thinking that I am oppressed? For the dems...why am I not like you what's my logic flaw? why do I think taxes spending bailouts affirmative auction are wrong..am I a bad guy?...for Republicans, why do I think building nations, sending military everywhere in the world is wrong ...WAR, WAR and WAR, IS WRONG, why the idea of minding our own business and let Israel and other countries take care of themselves should be the way to go?...Please answer honestly and seriously, and if you are neither a dem or rep state that at the beginning.
