How Much do American Eagle Jeans Stretch?

I love the way AE jeans fit me through the hip and backside, but the Artist jeans are quite snug through the thigh. I know they are meant to be skinny through the thigh and then flare, but do they ever stretch out through the thigh? I just feel like it looks funny being so skinny and then flaring at the knee!
