Figure of speech help needed!?

It's not personification because it isn't giving human like qualities to anything. "Thick" and "blanket" are not human traits. It's only imagery. "Thick night" can be tactile imagery, referring to the density and feel of the night. "Blanket of the dark" is visual imagery, giving the audience a visual concept of what the dark appears to look like.
